Keyword density checker — what is your page really about?
Paste your text or enter a page address. See the word count, reading time and the density of every keyword and two- and three-word phrase, with stop words filtered out and your target keyword highlighted. Free, no sign-up, pasted text never leaves your browser.
We fetch the page, drop menus, scripts and styles, and analyse the visible text.
Using keyword density the right way
Keyword density is a mirror, not a target. It shows which words dominate a page, which is useful for spotting a page that drifts off topic or one that repeats a phrase so often it reads like spam.
Check the top phrases
The two- and three-word tables should be led by the topic you want to rank for. If they are led by your brand name or by menu text, the page says less about its topic than you think.
Look for over-use
A target phrase far above 3%, or one phrase repeated in every sentence, reads badly. Replace some uses with synonyms, pronouns or related terms.
Place it where it counts
Placement beats repetition: the title, the H1, the first paragraph, one or two subheadings, image alt text and the meta description. The URL check tells you whether the title, H1 and description contain your keyword.
Word count and reading time
Reading time is estimated at about 220 words a minute, a typical adult reading speed for online text. There is no ideal length for SEO: a pricing page might need 300 words, a full guide 3,000. Compare your page with the pages that already rank for your keyword.
Hindi and other Indian languages
The checker counts words in any script, including Devanagari, Bengali and Tamil, and ignores common Hindi function words when stop words are filtered. Mixed Hinglish text works too.

What is keyword density?
The share of all the words on a page that are a given keyword. If a 1,000-word article uses "web hosting" 12 times, its density is 1.2%. The checker shows the count and density of every word and of every two- and three-word phrase, so you can see what a page is really about.
What is the ideal keyword density for SEO?
There is no magic number, and Google has said it does not use one. Most well-ranking pages land somewhere around 0.5% to 2% for their main phrase simply because they talk about it. Above about 3% text usually starts to read as stuffed. Write for the reader, use the phrase in the title, the first paragraph and a heading, and use related terms naturally.
How is density calculated here?
Density = times the phrase appears ÷ total words × 100. Words are counted the way a reader sees them, phrases never cross a full stop or a line break, and the check is not case-sensitive. For a multi-word target keyword we also show the share of all words it takes up.
What does "ignore stop words" do?
Stop words are very common words such as "the", "and", "is", "for", and common Hindi words such as "है", "का", "aur". Ignoring them hides them from the single-word table and drops phrases that start or end with them, so the tables show meaningful keywords. Turn it off to see raw counts.
Can I check a page that is not published yet?
Yes. Paste the text into the box. Pasted text is analysed entirely in your browser and is never sent to our server. Use the URL option for live pages; we fetch the page, strip menus, scripts and styles, and analyse the visible text.
Is the keyword density checker free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no word limit for pasted text. URL checks are limited to a fair number per visitor every 10 minutes. Starting a blog? HostKarle WordPress hosting starts at ₹99 a month on a yearly plan.
